Pop! Pop! Pop!

So the Pop! addiction in our household is showing no signs of slowing down. In the last couple weeks our collection has continued to grow.

Recent additions are:

Hawkman (DC)
Batman (Factory Error Yellow logo) (DC)
Malicifent (Disney)
Captain Hook (Disney)
Sulley (Disney)
Boo (Disney)
Leonidas (300)

This now brings us up to a collection of 35 figures. My husband has already preordered all 5 of the He-Man figures that will be available in May. Now we just have to wait for TMNT, Despicable Me 2, Alice (Alice in Wonderland), Alien, Predator, Back To The Future... The list of awesome characters being released this year just goes on and on.

POP! Continued...

Soo... I had a post ready earlier today when 8 more POP! figures that we had ordered arrived in the mail, including Gir, one of my most wanted figures.

That was before we went to get some food for dinner, when we also stopped in at a Game Traders store selling POP! figures. My husband and I couldn't help ourselves and we ended up buying another 3. 

As a result our collection swelled by a massive 11 figures today! This is what it looks like now!

Addicted to POP!

For the past year I have said to my husband at each comic/pop culture convention and every games shop we have been into, "I love those POP! Vinyl Figures, but I can't get any because I won't be able to stop!".

Well, I finally caved in at Supernova Adelaide last year picking up a variant bloody Daryl Dixon (The Walking Dead). I met Norman Reedus at Comic Con Adelaide earlier in the year and couldn't resist picking up the figure to go up on the shelf with my signed photo. The imminent collection was cemented at Christmas when my parents gave my husband a SDCC exclusive Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory) with Batman t-shirt. It was pretty much a downhill battle from then against buying every figure that has been made!

Since Christmas we have bought another 15, thanks to a local store having a fairly consistant 3 for $40 sale.

We're collecting them together which means we have a fairly diverse collection and more to come with lines that were recently announced at NY Toy Fair.

Some of my wishlist characters are: Gir (Invader Zim), he is rare though and expensive, Alice (Alice In Wonderland), the Planet of the Apes Characters, TMNT, Mike, Sully and Boo (Monsters Inc) and pretty much every Disney character!

Off to pound my eardrums...

Today is Soundwave Adelaide 2013! Oh my god I am so excited. I finally get to see my favourite band in the world again.

A Perfect Circle, have been a part of me since 2000. Maynard has such an amazing voice, I always feel so happy listening to him. They have only been to Adelaide once before back in 2004. So I am so excited not only that they are in Australia, but that they are actually coming to Adelaide. Adelaide has a history of being ignored for concerts by big artists for whatever reason.

In preparation for today I dug through my wardrobe for an APC tee that I bought a few years ago. It has never fit very well and is black which in a festival atmosphere = hot and sweaty! So I set out to make it more comfy and suitable for a day in the sun. Using a racer back tank that I already had I marked out lines to cut the sleeves and collar off. I also wanted to add some colour down the side so I cut out panels from either side. After adding some extra green fabric and a bit of tidying up (hemming) I came out with this.

I'm pretty happy with it, even though the sewing is a little wonky and rough. I'm still learning with my sewing machine but I am looking forward to altering more clothes and even making my own in the future with more practice.

Lion King Baby Shower

Last Saturday, myself along with my mum and sister threw a Lion King themed baby shower for my brother's girlfriend. The theme came about as we all love the movie and the mum-to-be had mentioned that she had a Lion King plastic table cloth that she had held onto from one of her childhood birthday parties. So we had our starting point.

The colour scheme was yellow, green, brown and a dash of orange. After some Googling and many hours on Pinterest, I had found some ideas for decorations and games. I made up templates for Wishes for Baby, Celebrity Baby Names and Pin The "Peanut" on the Mummy (The parents to be call baby that at the moment).

I also made a couple centre pieces using nappies to build up the base and added some little decorations to yellow plastic cups. There were helium balloons in brown, green and yellow, golden baby bottles as game prizes, orange velvet cupcakes with yellow frosting and yellow and green baby onesie sugar cookies.

I did make a pretty silly error with the the Celeb baby name. I put in Sunday but not her Celeb mummy's name and put Angelina Jolie but didn't list any of her kids (couldn't decide which one to add)

It was a great day, with laughs and a tonne of presents! Little Peanut is barely even going to be able to fit in his own nursery.

Did you have a themed baby shower? I would love to hear about other themes that people have used. My husband would love for us to have a Dr Seuss themed party if we have another baby!

Home Made Banana Icecream!

Ok, so I will start by saying I saw this on Pinterest. (I can't remember where it had been pinned from but want to be clear that I'm not claiming this an my own original idea)

Anyway, this is my first time making my own ice cream and this could not have been easier! The one and ONLY ingredient is Bananas.

You start off by getting some over ripe bananas and slicing them into medium slices. Then place them onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and pop them into the freezer. (I used a plastic container as my freezer is too full for a baking tray)

Once frozen, remove from freezer and place into either a blender or food processor, whichever you have handy. Then just blend! It will start by chopping the pieces and slowly it just becomes this smooth banana goodness :)

Either eat straight away or put back in the freezer for later!

You can also add choc chips, Flake or peanut butter even, for added flavour! Although this tastes pretty awesome as is.


(Note: I used about 6 small bananas which ended up filling only a sandwich sized container, so if you want larger amounts just increase the number of bananas. You may need to blend in batches though)

Xmas and New Year all packed away

It's 2013! I hope that everyone had a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

Our Christmas last year involved and 1.5hr drive in between family events. We are definitely going to have to discuss what we do from now on, as bubs gets older she may not enjoy the car for long periods like that. It may end up that we alternate families each year. I know a few people who do that and it seems to work well for them. Less stress and more fun.

Our daughter got royally spoilt, especially considering her 1st birthday was 2wks before Christmas. Luckily though, she's too young to understand that she was spoilt.

New Years we had planned a quiet night of movies, dinner and a couple quiet drinks, which would have been great as the little one could be in bed whenever she needed. Unfortunately she got sick and we spent most of the night in hospital. 3-4 hours in the emergency department and then transferred to the children's ward for observation. We were released in the afternoon but ended up back again that night.

Poor bubba was up and down temperature almost hitting 40! That's scary stuff, and I wouldn't want any parent to have to see their little one in the dazed and dopey state that the fever put her in.

After a couple days now of antibiotics it looks like the worst is behind us, which is very good. She is almost back to her normal cheeky, destructamacon self. Even trying to grab ornaments from the Xmas tree as I tried to pack it away.

(The last 2 photos are a special ornament for our daughter for the Xmas tree and a really cute small glitter reindeer head which will be going on her bedroom wall. It will need a coat of lacquer first though to help seal the glitter in, as it drops a lot!)
